Remembrance Concert
The band were really proud to raise over £600 for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal at our remembrance concert on 12 November 2022. It was a fantastic evening with some excellent music making with supporting visuals and film clips making a special atmosphere. Our thanks go to our musical director Geraint Barnes for all his planning and preparation work, our compere Ceri Stennett, the Whitchurch Branch of the Royal British Legion and standard bearer Colin Davies, CPS Printers in Caerphilly for the tickets and programmes, Gareth Witts and all at Ararat Baptist Church for allowing us to use the venue for rehearsals as well as the concert, and finally to the band members for all their hard work in preparing for the concert and providing some very yummy cakes for the interval!

Brecon Jazz - 12 August 2022
Our first visit to Brecon Jazz - and what an experience playing in the amazing setting of Brecon Cathedral, made even better by the cool temperature in there on one of the hottest days of the year! We played a range of stage and screen music in the first half including a beautiful rendition of Cinema Paridiso by our principal clarinettist (listen again at Cinema Paradiso featuring Principal Clarinet Julia Barton live at Brecon Jazz 2022 - YouTube). The second half upped the tempo for some partying! We're already looking forward to our next visit in 2023.

New Conductor
The band is really please to announce that we have a new conductor - Geraint Barnes is joining us as we get back to playing and we are really looking forward to working with him and making some great music with some exiting ideas for the future of the band. We'd also like to thank Geraint Hilbourne for all his work with the band over the past couple of years and for many years previously. He's stepping back due to work commitments but will still be making a guest appearance on trombone from time to time.
Rehearsals
And we are back. Really happy to say that rehearsals will re-commence on Monday 27 September 2021. A full risk assessment has been completed to make rehearsals as safe as we can. See you there!!!
